The Montana, built in 2007, is modern living in the heart of Pasadena. From the sweeping glass atrium of the main entrance to the stunning library and lounge. With naturally lit hallways, you will find peace and splendor on every level. The first floor houses the doorman, guest entry, security camera monitors, library, fitness center and surge pool. Private entry off of Euclid avenue gives access to a secured subterranean garage and plenty of guest parking.

The residences are available in three styles. The Boulevard Series, The San Gabriel Series and The Penthouses.

The Boulevard Series

Welcome home to city living at its most fashionable. The Boulevard Series encompass The Montana's southerly oriented residences along Colorado Boulevard. With westerly views sweeping from Old Pasadena and Orange Grove, along the Paseo Colorado, and eastward toward the Playhouse District and Lake Avenue, these gracious and spacious homes afford the excitement and energy of an urban environment.

Generous entry halls open into great rooms with a full wall of glass that makes up the adjacent solarium. Marble and stone tiles interplay with rich, wide-panel wood flooring to create an interplay of pale and dark tones, and ten foot ceilings draw light from all sources. The building's concrete construction, as well as insulated glass windows, protect against exterior sound intrusion. One unique feature common throughout the building is the custom lighting control, which enables a mix of sunlight-imitating light. Coupled with the vaulted, illuminated ceilings in residence hallways, the effect is rejuvenating.

Choose from two or three bedroom options, with a minimum floor plan of at least 3,500 square feet. Master suites offer multiple closets as well as his and her spa-style baths in most units. Secondary bedrooms are designed with en suite baths, and all mix marble, granite, and special hard woods. Gourmet kitchens feature custom cabinetry and gourmet appliances; formal dining areas are adjacent to every kitchen. Laundry rooms are roomy and well-appointed. Many residences offer a library and wet bar.

The San Gabriel Series

The Montana’s north-facing* residences offer dramatic views of the San Gabriel mountains, rising behind the dome of City Hall, sweeping east over the historic architecture of the Civic Center District, and onward up the Valley.

Like the Boulevard Series, the north-facing residences are spacious and inviting, with floor plans of 3,500 square feet and above. The custom mill work featured throughout the building starts at the front entry, with over-sized wooden doors by Eggers adorned by hand-cast bronze hardware.

The great rooms feature natural light, large wood-burning fireplaces (the last approved in Pasadena) with a remote-controlled gas option, beautiful stone mantles and safety tempered glass doors. All units feature solariums with stone floors and sweeping glass walls—these custom-designed double-hung insulated glass windows are the largest ever made by Wausau. Gourmet kitchens are available in several color schemes and all feature Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, custom wood cabinetry by Dynasty made of cherry, maple or alder, and plumbing fixtures by Kohler, KWC and Saint Thomas.

The double rheostats in each home reflect the presence of two different, but invisible, sets of lights. Like the residences, the common corridors also feature daylight-simulating lighting fixtures, but with natural light at each end.

As in the south-facing residences, master suites feature his and her baths with Koehler Hydro-Air tubs, marble floors and walls, with large European stone vanity counters and separation of his/hers in most units. Plumbing fixtures in each bathroom are by Franke and KWC. Secondary guest rooms feature en suite baths and ample closet space. Some residences offer a library and wet bar; all feature large laundry rooms with state-of-the- art appliances. Apart from their orientation, north- or south-facing, all The Montana residences offer the same luxurious components.

The Penthouses

In The Montana penthouses, you know you’ve arrived. These gorgeous residences command sweeping views of the Pasadena landscape, with wrap-around terraces overlooking City Hall to the San Gabriels on the north, and the historic Playhouse District and energy of Colorado Boulevard to the south, where even downtown Los Angeles twinkles in the distance.

The four penthouses occupy one of each of the four corners of The Montana, starting at 4,400 square feet in size. The floor plans offer large entryways, great rooms with deeply-colored wood plank floors, large fireplaces and stone mantles, and library/entertainment centers. Double doors lead into the dining room and on toward magnificent gourmet kitchens, replete with custom mill work, granite or marble countertops and Wolfe oven and range, and Sub-Zero double refrigerator. Twelve-foot ceilings reinforce the atmosphere of space and light.

Insulated glass doors and windows offer nearly floor-to-ceiling natural light, as well as sound protection from the city below. Master suites are truly inspirational, with build-to-order walk-in closet areas, his and her spa-style baths with European stone vanity counters, and Koehler Hydro-Air tubs in each. Secondary bedrooms offer en suite baths and ample closets.

A commanding corridor links all of the penthouse rooms enfilade in the manner of 19th century French architecture, inviting the natural migration from one room to another. An exquisite combination of finish and material palettes mix marble, granite, special hardwoods, custom accent lighting and stone tile work throughout.

The Lifestyle

The front desk offers assistance with luggage and packages, among other services, and round-the-clock security, bringing peace of mind to homeowners. Residences are situated on floors two through five, six per floor, with four penthouse suites featuring stunning views and wrap-around decks situated on the sixth floor. Two wood-paneled elevators ensure quick access to your front door. All residences have a separate personal, secured storage space. The overall building structure is composed of concrete walls and floors for incredible sound attenuation and fire-risk reduction.

7,000 square feet of retail space wraps around the front of the street level of The Montana. Europane, a delightful bakery and Cafe designed by the same team of architects behind The Montana occupies much of the ground floor space. Across the street lies Paseo Colorado, an open-air shopping ensemble with restaurants, a multi-screen movie theater, department stores, specialty shops and even a premier supermarket.

The fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment including treadmills and elliptical trainers, free weights, yoga mats and exercise balls, and a true stretch cage designed by golf professional Randy Myers for game-changing flexibility. The adjacent surge pool is clad in anamosa limestone and features two jets of variable speed to accommodate any swimming style. An elevator chair allows ease of access for those with limited mobility.

The mail room is located near the elevator bank and features a call button to summon the doorman as needed.

Aside from the commissioned public art projects which adorn the exterior of the building, The Montana also houses Gwynn Murrill sculptures, maquettes and intaglio carvings of native birds and animals on every floor. Most memorable may be the family of bronze cougars which lounge along the first floor entry hall, and the flock of bronze birds which inhabits the porte cochere. Two additional common courtyards with seating and lounge areas and lush landscaping are found on either end of the second floor corridors.
