Royal Woods offers several schools but not all are public. The Curtis School is an elementary age school for grades first through sixth featuring a student to teacher ratio of less than 12 to 1. It offers accreditation, wellness, culture, and community. The Westland School has been a Sherman Oaks landmark since 1949 featuring education for kindergarten through sixth grade in a multi-age class grouping. Berkeley Hall is another private, coeducational school in Sherman Oaks for students preschool through eighth grade. It offers rigorous academics and a supportive atmosphere and grounded character development for learning, leadership, and social responsibility. All three of these private schools are located just south of Royal Woods.
For public schools, residents with school-age children are in the Los Angeles Unified School District and typically are assigned to the Sherman Oaks elementary charter school, the Van Nuys middle school, and the Van Nuys Senior high school.
